Enhancing the Ability of Consumers To Control the Robocalls
In this document, the Federal Communications Commission (Commission) modifies rules to ensure that consumers can revoke consent for robocalls they no longer wish to receive while continuing to receive those they still want. We also modernize our rules to ensure that consumers have clear, simple, and automated ways to revoke consent while streamlining callers' ability to process revocations. Specifically, we allow callers to interpret a revocation request as applying only to the specific category of informational robocalls to which the revocation was directed, allow callers to designate an exclusive means to revoke consent, and amend the exemption from the consent requirement for financial institutions to allow them to more easily alert customers to fraudulent activity on their account. In addition, we delegate authority to the Consumer and Governmental Affairs Bureau (CGB) in consultation with the Enforcement Bureau (EB) to review our robocall rules to ensure that those rules are clear and easy to read.
